We celebrated Sara's first birthday on her actual birthday, the 13th. She had a sweet , candy theme party and I loved how it turned out. It was a blast to plan! The only hitch in the plan was the location. I had planned to have the party at my brother and sister in law's house. They have a great pool for the kids to use. From as soon as we knew we were having our summer baby I envisioned an outdoor bash, hot weather and a picnic theme. Well, we live in Michigan so you have to count on the unexpected for weather. We had cold and rain instead of 80's and sunny. So, the party was moved to our house and no swimming. We still had the picnic food, fried chicken, homemade Mac and cheese, baked beans, chips and dip, veggies, fresh fruit, rolls and cinnamon butter...Lots of yum! The highlight of the party was the candy bar with all kinds of delicious old fashion candy to load up their bags. It was the perfect favor for all ages! The adults had yummy cocktails with pop rocks on the rim. Sara did a great job of diving into her cake. She quickly discovered that the cake would fly when she flung her arms. The more we laughed and cheered, the more she dove in! She was spoiled with many wonderful gifts and lots of love from her family! WOW! She's one..time flies!
